What does a jet ski rental cost at Lake Powell?

Between $245 and $375 a day from the 3 outfitters that publish a rate, which is the cheaper half of the market and also the half with strings attached. Dreamkatchers Lake Powell lists $299 to $375 per day for a Kawasaki STX-15F that seats 2 adults, with rates that “do not include tax or energy surcharge,” a 72-hour cancellation policy, and a check-in at 8am against a hard return “fueled by 4pm.” Rent Wake Bros lists $260 a day for a 2022 Sea-Doo GTX 130 when you take a pair for 4 or more days, and states a “3 day minimum required.”

H2O Zone on 6th Avenue in Page publishes the longest model list of the 3, and it is the only one of them renting Yamaha WaveRunners. Multi-day rates run $245 a day for a WaveRunner EX Sport, $265 for a VX Deluxe, $285 for a VX Cruiser and $335 for the VX Cruiser HO, each on a 2-day minimum. Its Kawasaki STX-15F is $295 whether you take it for a day or a week. Single-day rentals run 8am to 5pm and start at 2 machines, and the 2026 season there runs May 28 to September 25.

Jet Ski belongs to Kawasaki, WaveRunner to Yamaha, Sea-Doo to BRP, and Honda badged its own the AquaTrax. Lake Powell fleets rent a mix of all 4, so a WaveRunner rental and a jet ski rental are the same transaction here — H2O Zone alone lists 3 of the 4 brands.

The two marinas are the other half of the market and neither publishes a number. Antelope Point rents personal watercraft through its own booking system without a public rate, and Wahweap does the same. For a sense of scale, Lake Powell Resorts does publish its 2026 powerboat rates from the same desk: a 19-foot powerboat runs $379 to $459 a day depending on season, and a 21-foot deck boat $529 to $649.

Budget past the sticker. The rentals guide covers the fees that get added at the counter across every boat class here, and fuel on a jet ski adds up faster than the tank size suggests.

Can you book a jet ski at Wahweap in advance?

No, and this catches people. Lake Powell Resorts lists its jet skis as available on a “first-come, first-served basis only,” while the powerboats and pontoons in the same fleet book online against a dated 2026 rate card. Wahweap is also the only marina in that fleet that has them.

The marina route is a gamble on a summer morning; the off-site route is a reservation. If your trip depends on having a jet ski, book an outfitter. If you are flexible and already at Wahweap, walk up to the rental desk early and ask.

Two more limits on the marina ski before you count heads. It seats up to 2 people against a 350-pound weight limit, and it cannot tow — no tubes, no wakeboards, no skiers. A family of 3 needs 2 skis or a different boat.

Off-site fleets tow. H2O Zone lists towing capability on 5 of its 6 multi-day models, the compact EX Sport being the exception, and it points wakeboarders at the VX Cruiser HO.

Off-site rentals solve the launch problem differently. Rent Wake Bros includes launch and retrieval at either Antelope Point or Wahweap, with a $50 valet fee per trailer on the Antelope Point side. Which ramp you use is covered in the marina guides.

How far can you ride a jet ski on Lake Powell?

Fuel sets the limit long before speed does. A rental jet ski carries 13.2 to 18.5 gallons, and Lake Powell has 3 fuel docks: Wahweap, Antelope Point, and the Bullfrog dock, which relocated to deeper water near Halls Crossing for the 2026 season with land-based services staying at Bullfrog.

The gap between them is the problem. When Dangling Rope Marina closed, the Park Service spelled out what was lost: it had been “the only place to obtain boat fuel between the Wahweap area in South Lake Powell and the Bullfrog area in North Lake Powell, a distance of approximately 100 miles.” It has stayed closed since, and the Superintendent’s Compendium lists the Dangling Rope Developed Area as closed to public access. Nothing has replaced it.

That reshapes what a jet ski day looks like. The Park Service put the Wahweap-to-Bullfrog run at “at least four to five hours” for boaters averaging 20 to 25 mph, one way, with no fuel in between. Rainbow Bridge, about 50 miles up, is a 100-mile round trip on a tank you cannot top off at the halfway point.

What are the rules for jet skis on Lake Powell?

Two of them are stricter than the rules for boats. The Park Service requires that “people on personal watercraft must wear a life jacket regardless of their age,” where boat passengers only have to wear one if they are 12 or under. And there is a separate list of water a personal watercraft may not enter at all.

The PWC regulations name 5 closed stretches:

1. The Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam and the Grand Canyon National Park boundary.
2. The Colorado River upstream of Sheep Canyon.
3. The San Juan River upstream of Clay Hills pullout.
4. The Escalante River upstream of Coyote Creek.
5. The Dirty Devil River upstream of the Utah Highway 95 bridge.

On the Escalante between Cow Canyon and Coyote Creek you may ride, but not “in excess of flat wake speed.” The same page also bans any personal watercraft that does not meet the 2006 EPA two-stroke emission standards, which rules out older carbureted skis you might trailer in.

The wakeless canyons apply to you too. The compendium prohibits going over 5 mph or making a wake in Antelope, Labyrinth, Forbidding and Lost Eden Canyons, on the grounds that they are “too narrow to safely allow motorized vessels to travel on plane.” Idle through them, and read the slot canyon guide before you plan a canyon day around a jet ski.

Which state’s rules apply, Utah or Arizona?

Both, depending on where you are floating, because the state line runs through the lake. The Park Service points boaters to Utah and Arizona alike and expects compliance with whichever applies to the water you are on.

The practical differences land on age and paperwork. Arizona requires no operator license or boating education certificate for a personal watercraft, and its statute instead regulates behavior: every person aboard wears an approved wearable flotation device, and coming within 60 feet of another watercraft is prima facie evidence of reckless operation “unless both are leaving a flat wake or are traveling at a speed of five nautical miles per hour or less.” Utah requires riders aged 12 to 17 to hold a boating safety certificate, with 12 to 15 year olds also needing direct supervision from an adult 18 or older.

Your jet ski needs registration in one of the two states either way. And the whole lake is designated as infested with quagga mussels by both states, so state decontamination law applies when you trailer out — check the current dry times and inspection requirements with the state you are heading into, because they change by season and by boat type.

Where should you ride?

South lake, near the fuel. The run out of Wahweap or Antelope Point puts Padre Bay, the Antelope Canyon arm, Navajo Canyon and Labyrinth Canyon inside an easy half day. Navajo is the pick for a jet ski, because it is the one big south-lake canyon the Park Service has not posted wakeless — 15 miles of wide canyon you can run at cruise.

Two cautions. Open crossings like Padre Bay build chop in the afternoon, and the Park Service warns that “high winds can make large waves” and that thunderstorms come up suddenly on Lake Powell — a 3-foot chop is a different experience on a ski than in a 21-foot deck boat. And a wakeless canyon is a 5 mph canyon, so you sightsee the tight slots at idle.
